All about Chichimama

Well, not really. I’m a former academic wanna-be who turned into a consultant to avoid having to write a dissertation.  But I now spend my days trying to keep two not-so-small anymore children occupied. I knit obsessively. I used to read obsessively, but it seems that these days the only books that come home from the library are written in big print with lots of pictures. I no longer have a subscription to the New York Times because seriously? I haven’t read more than the first page since my oldest was an infant.

I am a reluctant housewife. I do laundry when I must, and every once and a while I clean out the fridge. I have two cats who are dumb and lazy, but rather cute when they want to be. Thanks to them I own three vacuums. Now ask me if I use them.

I mull over going back to work on a daily basis, especially now that full-day school for both kids is looming in my future.  But the logistics of having two people working crazy-hours and commuting to the city overwhelms me, and I can’t see myself taking a nothing job.  Although I guess the fact that I have been out of the workforce for six years now doesn’t bode well for my ability to find anything else.  Clearly this is a topic for another post.

If you really want to know more about me, go here and here and here and here. And maybe even here. Or perhaps that’s too much sharing for one day.

Oh, and I have a husband.  Orangeman Mike to be precise.  And he’s getting the pity post.  Because I mentioned the cats, and the kids and the knitting, but not him in my original draft of “All about Chichimama.”  But despite my neglect in acknowledging him, he is the best thing that ever happened to me.  Really, he is, I pinky swear.  And I am not just saying that because he has recently decided to do his own laundry.

  1. I must know, how in the world did you convince him to do his own laundry? I need lessons…. 🙂

  2. 🙂
